Latest News:
The KK4ONF repeater is on the air at 147.06 MHz with a 123.0 PL tone. Be aware that the repeater has a very 'tight' front end, so that if you speak too loudly or have your audio input too high (and thus overdeviate) the repeater will clip your signal and your listeners will be treated to your signal coming in and out; if it happens, just back of the mike and you'll do fine. Note also that the repeater does not have a courtesy tone with an inactive few seconds at the end of a transmission. Since the repeater is designed primarily for emergency support, that 'off' period and tone are not indicated. There is a timeout timer, so extra long one-sided QSOs will be cut off.
The repeater has excellent coverage of the county and also covers much of Beaufort county as well. Think about joining ARES and joining the JARC to help support the repeater. For information send an email to the club (address at bottom of page).
The Jasper EOC station VHF/UHF/HF equipment All items have been shipped from HRO. Items that will be installed include: ICOM IC-2820H, ICOM IC-7000, LDG IT-100 tuner, Astron SS-30M power supply, two XT-50 Diamond antennas, a DXCC multi-band HF antenna plus all related coax and other components. Once the new radio shack in the EMS building is renovated with a new 12' x 2' counter and Savannah Communications has installed the ground connections to the tower and building grounding halo we can set up the equipment. I would expect this will be accomplished by mid-March. This EMS building is located at 1509 Grays Hwy about one mile north
of Ridgeland on Rt 278.
